Hot Days in August

August 9th, 2007

It’s another hot one at Fox Haven.  Probably all across the Midwest and central plains.  The weather has hit 100 degrees F the past few days, and will continue into next week… maybe a few degrees cooler.  I’ve been up early carrying water around the property in a large barrel on the back of a golf cart for the trees and shrubs.  We even have a good breeze today, but that only hastens the evaporation!  The pond is about 5 feet down now, about the same as last year.  I suspect it will go lower, unless we get some needed rain.  If we can make it through the next few weeks the weather pattern should begin to change.  I’m looking forward to some cooler weather, and maybe more rain this Fall!  I will say one thing… it’s nice to have a basement under the house, especially at this time of year… ours is not a walk-out, and stays at about 68 degrees most of the time.
